Job Description

Position: Project Coordinator – Galkacyo

Reports to: Program Director

Supervision of: Officers/ Assistants

Duty station: Galkacyo but frequently traveling to Mogadishu

Duration and type of contract: 18 months (Extension subject to Funding availability)

Job Purpose:

The Resilience and Durable Solutions Project Coordinator will lead the planning, implementation, and coordination of resilience and durable solutions programs. The role focuses on strengthening community resilience, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and supporting long-term solutions for displacement, including access to land, housing, basic services, and local integration.

The coordinator will ensure effective project implementation, stakeholder coordination, and compliance with donor and organizational requirements while contributing to strategic programming that addresses displacement and climate-related vulnerabilities.

  1. Role and responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of resilience and durable solutions projects in line with project objectives, work plans, and donor requirements.
  • Ensure activities are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Supervise field teams and ensure effective delivery of project interventions.
  • Coordinate resilience initiatives such as livelihoods support, climate adaptation activities, urban/rural resilience planning, and community-based projects.
  • Support interventions that promote sustainable solutions for displacement, including local
    integration, safe return, and access to services
  • Facilitate engagement with local authorities on land tenure for agriculture, water sources
    and other social amenities.
  • Promote inclusion of minority and different groups in developing action plans, meetings
    and key decision making.
  • Maintain strong coordination with government institutions, local authorities, community
    leaders, and implementing partners.
  • The Project Coordinator will serve as the focal point for representing the 3R Org in relevant coordination meetings at the regional, consortium, and national levels.
  • Strengthen partnerships with AARAN partners, BRCiS consortium and other partners
  • Support the team on data collection, beneficiary tracking, and project documentation.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, including donor reports and internal updates.
  • Ensure transparent and inclusive beneficiary targeting processes.
  • Strengthen community structures such as resilience committees and local planning groups
  • Prepare budget request plan and procurement plan (monthly, quarterly and/or annually)
    according to project implementation and donor requirement.
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure expenditures are in line with approved budgets.
  • Support procurement planning and resource allocation for project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and donor policies.
  • Ensure all project staff have a clear personal development plan, ToR, and regularly
    follow-up on this with them
  • Supervise and manage Project team to ensure high-quality activity implementation
  • Enable a positive, open, and flexible working environment for the project staff.
  • Organize and participate in project-related meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Identify lessons learned and support adaptive programming.
  • Promote participatory approaches in project implementation.

Skills and qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, development studies, Economics, Environmental
Studies Or related field.

Specific Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience managing programs
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Experience in community-based programming and participatory approaches
  • Knowledge of resilience and durable solutions frameworks and displacement issues
  • Strong monitoring, reporting, and analytical skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in English (written/spoken)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
