Access Development and Relief Organization (ADRO) is a women-led national non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable communities in Somalia. ADRO works in the thematic areas of Food Security and Livelihoods, Health and Nutrition, WASH, Protection, women empowerment, Education, Governance and Peacebuilding and conciliations. With a proven track record of implementing community-driven programs, ADRO partners with local and international stakeholders to build resilience, promote social cohesion, governance and respond to humanitarian emergencies.
- Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) reports to and supports the Board of directors and is responsible for the overall leadership, management and strategic direction of the organization. The ED ensures effective program implementation, strengthens organizational systems, develops partnerships, mobilizes resources and represents ADRO at the national and international levels with vision and integrity.
- Key Responsibilities
3.1 Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Provide overall leadership and vision for ADRO ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision and strategic goals.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop, review and implement organizational policies, strategies and annual plans.
- Ensure effective governance, accountability and compliance with organizational values, donor requirements and regulatory frameworks.
3.2 Program Development & Management
- Oversee the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all ADRO programs.
- Ensure program quality, relevance and impact in line with humanitarian and development standards.
- Strengthen ADRO’s technical capacity in key thematic areas.
3.3 Resource Mobilization & Proposal Development
- Lead the development of high-quality concept notes and proposals aligned with donor priorities and ADRO’s strategic objectives.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities from bilateral, multilateral, and private donors.
- Strengthening ADRO’s proposal development systems, tools, and capacity, ensuring competitiveness in donor solicitations.
- Coordinate internal teams and partners in the design and submission of proposals, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors to support sustainable resource mobilization.
3.4 Financial Management
- Ensure sound financial management, accountability and transparency across all operations.
- Develop and diversify funding sources including donor relations, fundraising and partnerships.
- Approve budgets and ensure financial sustainability of the organization.
- Approve budgets and oversee financial planning to ensure efficient resource utilization.
3.5 Human Resource & Organizational Development
- Lead, motivate and manage the senior management team and staff.
- Build a positive organizational culture based on professionalism, teamwork, integrity and innovation.
- Ensure effective HR systems, staff development and performance management processes.
3.6 Partnerships, Networking & Representation
- Represent ADRO to donors, government authorities, UN agencies, INGOs and other stakeholders.
- Strengthen collaboration and partnerships with local communities, civil society organizations and international actors.
- Advocate for ADRO’s mission and influence policies and practices relevant to its mandate.
