The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. The position will be based in Nairobi, Hargeisa, Dubai or other location strategic to the Somali aid industry with frequent travel to Somalia.
As Business Development Manager, you will lead strategic fundraising, donor engagement, and business development efforts for the Somalia/Somaliland Country Office. You will drive donor intelligence gathering, identify and secure new funding opportunities, diversify funding streams, and strengthen WHH’s positioning within the Somali humanitarian and development landscape. Your responsibilities
- With the Country Director, develop and take ownership of an overarching fundraising/business continuity strategy for the Country Office.
- Maintain and regularly update the Country office funding pipeline including tracking opportunities and proposal status.
- Identify and track relevant upcoming funding opportunities (private and institutional donors) through donor funding intelligence gathering and nurturing partner relationships;
- Develop and maintain tools, guidelines, templates for donor intelligence information.
- Lead preparatory actions for anticipated funding opportunities including identification and engagement of relevant partners to form a consortia (INGOs, NNGOs, Universities, research actors, line Ministries etc.), preparing teaming agreements and development of winning strategies/pitches.
- In collaboration with Head of Programmes, facilitate donors’ and potential partners’ visits to WHH Somalia/Somaliland operating areas, showcasing the achievements, impact and areas requiring additional funding.
- Lead proposal development processes including ownership of proposal timelines and coordination of inputs and act as primary author of proposals for new business.
- Lead the collation of evidence briefs, capacity statements and related materials. Support evidence-gathering exercises as required.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies – in a framework for donor diversification including non-traditional donors and foundations (Gulf states).
